A thousand and one problems in life, hair problems should not be one of them.
The cost of hair products in the market can be really overwhelming especially in a dwindling economy and with several bills calling at you. See, I totally feel you, sis, but hang in there, I got you covered.
At the comfort of your kitchen and without breaking a bank, you can conveniently put together products that will prove highly beneficial and meet all your hair needs.
Here are 5 best DIY hair mask you can make with supplies straight from your kitchen.
BAKING SODA MASK
Tendencies of products and oils accumulating in your hair can get pretty high especially when you’re trying to care for your hair and unintentionally use several products on them. This is exactly where a Baking Soda mask comes in. The powder dissolved in water helps to remove any buildup of oils, soaps, and other ingredients in typical hair care products.
Baking soda will leave hair squeaky-clean, shiny, and soft after product build up has been stripped off the hair.
Because of its consistency, it can also work as an exfoliant for the hair,
gently taking off dead skin from the scalp.
Ingredients: Half a cup of shampoo, 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda
Directions: Combine shampoo with baking soda, stir well and pour over wet hair. Gently massage the mixture into the scalp and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
AVOCADO, HONEY AND OLIVE OIl HAIR MASK:
These ingredients are individually great on their own, how much more a combination of all three.
Olive oil is extremely hydrating and it helps protect your hair from damage especially damages from hot styling tools.
Avocados are extremely moisturizing and nourishing because they contain natural oils and both polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids. They’re especially helpful for dry and dehydrated hair.
Honey is packed with scalp- and hair-strengthening vitamins it helps coat your hair strands and retaining moisture as well.
Ingredients: Half an avocado, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of honey and 3 drops essential oil of choice.
Directions: Stir ingredients together until fully combined, then apply to wet hair with your fingertips, starting at the bottom and working your way up. Warren suggests wrapping your hair into a bun and covering with a shower cap. To help activate the ingredients, blow dry your shower cap-covered hair for 10 minutes. Let it sit for another 20 minutes, then shampoo.
COCONUT OIL HAIR MASK:
Coconut oil is highly moisturizing and helps to prevent split ends, frizz and breakage. Of the 5 best DIY hair mask, this is one of my favourite.
Ingredients: 1 tablespoon of coconut oil.
Directions: Before bed, warm coconut oil in the microwave, then massage into damp hair, avoiding the roots (Tie strands into a bun and/or cover with a shower cap or hair wrap if desired.) Shampoo in the morning.
BANANA, HONEY, EGG AND OLIVE OIL HAIR MASK
Bananas are rich in antioxidants and can offer the scalp a strong defense system that can protect the hair and scalp from oxidative stress.
Banana infused masks, over time, can lead to hair follicles that are stronger and, as a result, grow longer.
On the other hand, egg is high on protein rich in amino acids, biotin and proteins, ensuring the re-growth of your hair follicles and can help to fortify your hair, making it less prone to breakage and damage from heat and styling.
Honey is an emollient. It seals the moisture in your hair, keeping it conditioned and shiny. This reduces breakage, which is often a cause of slower hair growth
Ingredients: 2 egg yolks, 2 peeled ripe bananas, 2-3 tablespoons of honey, half a cup of condition, 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
Directions: Blend all ingredients until pureed. Fully coat hair with the treatment, leave on for 20 to 30 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
OATS, ALMOND OIL AND MILK HAIR MASK
The benefits of a protein-rich hair mask cannot be over-emphasized. It gives protection to the hair against oxidative stress. Adds shine and luster to hair while also fortifying and making it less prone to breakage and damage from heat and styling..
Ingredients: Half a cup of oats, 2 tablespoons of almond oil, half a cup of milk.
Directions: Mix ingredients well. Smooth the mask all over hair and leave it on for 20 to 40 minutes, then shampoo.
